Did Zuckerberg sway the 2020 election? Accusations of $450M funding and censorship spark heated debate as Trump calls for prison time.
Mark Zuckerberg is famous as the founder and CEO of Facbeook. However, some consider his involvement was illegal in the 2020 election, where he funneled $450M USD into local voting organizations in many U.S. states (“swing states”) that heavily supported vote-counting and get-out-the-vote teams for the Democrats and Joe Biden.
President-elect Trump, in his new book “Save America” coming out next week, makes a very pointed allegation against Zuckerberg: He claims ‘Zuck’ conspired against him in the 2020 election, and says that the Facebook founder would “spend the rest of his life in prison” if he ever tried it again.
Many Americans whether they are Democrat, Independent or Republican-leaning were also banned by FB during the 2020 election cycle and through the worst of the pandemic. It was obvious, any groups whether in politics, finance, healthcare and even social groups that made any posts on social media that ran contrary to the ruling Biden and Democrat talking points was banned and demonetized.
Even some critics in the U.S. were arrested for their social posts on FB and Twitter despite Americans having freedom of speech under their First Amendment Constitutional rights.
Taking all these factors together, there were two clear takeaways: First, the many Americans who were censored were very upset at the ‘Big Tech’ companies like FB, Twitter, and Google/YouTube and especially at the CEO’s of these companies. Specifically, Twitter (now ‘X’) CEO Jack Dorsey and FaceBook CEO Mark Zuckerberg were called out publicly for censoring, deplatforming and demonetizing their users – even banning a sitting President Trump in January 2021
Secondly, many freedom loving Americans and others around the world sought alternative social media platforms to get away from the censorship and abuse the other Big Tech platforms had on users that did not adopt the Democrat or liberal opinions, no matter how unpopular they were with a large percentage of moderate or independent Americans. One good example of alternative social media platforms that arose during this heightened threat to freedoms was Truth Social which was launched by President Trump only a few months after Trump was kicked off Twitter and FB. To many peoples surprise Truth Social gained popularity and a large userbase in a short amount of time, and the company went public on the stock market in the U.S. netting President Trump almost $4 Billion USD on this successful investment.
But we must consider the recent Trump election victory is having on the Big Tech CEO’s and even other political leaders from around the world. In just a short time over the past few years, Trump was criticized and ridiculed by the Tech CEO’s that kicked him off their platforms. In fact the violation of Americans civil and legal rights was so blatant and obvious, that even FaceBook’s Zuckerberg went out publicly to state that he was not at fault, that he was following orders to censor Americans and President Trump because the FBI and the Biden administration was telling him to. Here is Zuckerberg on Joe Rogan explaining how he was pressured (and lied to) by the FBI to censor and ban their users from sharing the true story about the Hunter Biden laptop story.
Yet now, Zuckerberg perhaps is trying to apologize for his previous missteps with the Trump team. Earlier yesterday, it is being reported on X (formerly Twitter) that: Zuckerberg Seeks Role in Trump’s Reform Movement
Reports have emerged indicating that Mark Zuckerberg has expressed interest in joining a ‘reform movement’ led by Donald Trump, aiming at ‘national renewal.’ This news has sparked a significant reaction across social media, with many users expressing distrust towards Zuckerberg’s intentions. Critics argue that his previous actions, including bans of political figures and accusations of election interference, make him an unlikely candidate for a coalition with Trump. Discussions include debates on whether such a political shift should be welcomed or if it represents a strategic maneuver by Zuckerberg.
This latest move by Zuckerberg trying to play the political game with Trump has many on the internet laughing that Trump has forced his former Big Tech CEO rivals to come to kiss his ring and show their respect. But the internet is laughing quite loudly about Trump being the ‘New Godfather’, and also making fun of Zuckerberg crawling back to Trump but also encountering his arch-rival Elon Musk who has become incredibly close to Trump though his support of the election campaign win. Here are some funny meme examples (1), (2).
And also over the past few years, some political leaders like Justin Trudeau the Prime Minister of Canada has publicly criticized Trump and his administration here:
However, Trudeau did a complete about-face after Trump’s election when President-elect Trump threatened 25% tariffs on all Canadian goods coming into the U.S. if Canada did not do more to stop the flow of illegal immigrants and drugs coming from Canada into U.S. As a result, Trudeau called Trump in a panic to discuss a resolution (3):
And just today Trudeau was spotted at President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida showing the urgency of the matter from Canada’s perspective (4):
So far, the re-election of Trump has caused major changes in political and social areas. But one thing is for sure, Trump has shown that he is much different than the current U.S. President and that he will ensure that the global conflict and difficulties will bend to his will… so maybe he is a ‘Godfather’ after all.
